immense and as conscientious citizens we must come forward and help in the
preservation, conservation and propagation of these ethnic norms and practices so
that the voice of these ethnic people of this wonderful region may remain heard and
sung.

1. Son –Beel is a small sea in summer which with suitable structural design
throughout the year will enhance its viabilities. More than 40% of the areas around
water body have evergreen forest. It is also a breeding ground for reptiles and other
various aquatic species. Presence of water-body increase moisture which promotes
plant growth and sustain environment. Concept of Biosphere reserve will pave the
way for promotion of environment ecology. Fishing festival during autumn may be

2. Manik Bondopadhyay(19 May 1908-3December 1956) was a Bengali
novelist and is considered as one of the leading lights of modern Bengali fiction.
Padma Nadir Majhi (The Boatman on the River Padma, 1936) is one of his
exemplary works. It was later on made into a feature film, (a joint Indo –
Bangladesh production) in 1993 by Goutom Ghosh from the novel of the same
name
